FIND and FIX the word gaps
“After meeting the Chatty Team, we knew “Chatty Toolbox- Early” was the programme for us and we decided to recruit a new workforce – our year 6 pupils who we called “Chatty Buddies”.
Tony McCoy, Headteacher, Sherdley Primary, St Helens
What’s in the module?
Chatty Nouns
180 essential nouns needed for every child to make their needs known and to help understand what adults are saying. These are the building blocks of phrases and sentences and will help children on their language-learning journey. See what percentage of nouns a child knows from categories such as animals, body parts, food, clothes, home, toys etc. Once you identify need/gaps you can use our expertly-created framework to teach any gaps in knowledge. In order to consolidate and embed learning, use our interactive and fun games.
Chatty Verbs
50 essential verbs which will help children to understand and communicate. Great for screening and teaching verb vocabulary but this module can also be used to expand what children say and to support grammatical difficulties such as he/she pronoun confusion, using conjunctions to develop longer utterances and also helping children to develop verb tenses including irregular past tenses.
Chatty Concepts
Help children to understand and use essential language concepts including prepositions, shape, colour, number and opposites. Essential for communication, these concepts also underpin cognitive development particularly in areas such as mathematics and science.
We are very pleased with this intervention – the software engages children and is simple enough for users. When used on a regular basis we have seen a vast improvement in vocabulary and understanding of language used by children with SEN and EAL children. Highly recommended!

“Chatty Toolbox® – Early” what you get..
“Using the software has been very successful. The children respond positively to both the variety within the programme and the repetition which builds rapid progress along with confidence. We would recommend this to other schools for use with general language development and for specific vocabulary work.”
Louisa Aldridge, Headteacher, Astmoor Primary, Runcorn
